350 Installed
Irvine Meadows West RV Park, Irvine, California
August, 1990
Finally, the new engine was in the car. It has a carburetor, but
no distributor (the original one disappeared, probably under the gravel
in front of my trailer). The 350 flexplate ended up about 1" too
far from the Powerglide torque converter, so we got some long grade-8 bolts
and enough washers to fill the gap on all of them. This actually
worked for over a year. Note the employment-limiting beard and Boy
Scout neckerchief worn as a sweatband. By this time, the trailer-park
manager was refusing to speak to me, though my neighbors enjoyed the project
and helped out whenever they could.
