New Rear Control Arm Bushings
Smyrna, Georgia
June, 1996
The front suspension got all new ball-joints & bushings back in '91
when the disk-brake swap took place, but the rear suspension, after 31
hard years on the road, was pretty loose; the rear of the car would wander
around in an increasingly frightening way in high winds. So, I drove
on up to Cobb County (Newt Gingrich's district) to my friend Andrew's house.
Andrew had several important things for this project: An air-conditioned
garage, a hydraulic press, and impact tools. Plus, he'd done rear
control arm bushings before and I didn't know the first thing about what
to do beyond "take off the huge bolts that hold the rear suspension together."
