BMW Fan & Transmission Cooler
Alameda, California
April, 1999
Just in case the stock belt-driven fan and steel shroud (no plastic shroud for this car!) wasn't enough, I went to the junkyard and got this
electric cooling fan off a 70s 5-Series BMW. Most cars with electric
cooling fans have them mounted behind the radiator, but there are an increasing
number of front-mounted fans available these days; check Mercedeses and
mid-80s Chryslers. In addition to the electric fan, I've also installed
an auxiliary transmission cooler (visible in front of the fan) which is
cheap insurance for the transmission.
