Here’s one for all the pessimists who thought that DOTS ended along with my tenure at Jalopnik. Not so!
I’ve got 200+ sets of Down On The Street Bonus Edition photos sent in by readers of the original series, and I’m going to share as many of them as possible here. To see the full gallery of photos of today’s DOTSBE honoree, go here. This car comes from Jeremy, who points out the super-early-80s-ness of the ’84 Los Angeles Olympic Games license plates.

Sweet – as long as I can get my Phix, I don’t really care where it comes from.

In spite of the horrifyingly terrible Renault engine, I still love the DMC-12. I got to sit in one when I was 5 years old and it was, for quite some time, the coolest thing my inner child got to do. Of course, then I got to go traipse around the space shuttle, and its decidedly more awesome, non-Renault engines sorta supplanted that.

It’s not a Renault engine. It’s a Peugeot-Renault-Volvo engine!

PRV V-6 FTW!
Crap. I think I just spilled internet all over myself. I hope that shit wipes off.

DOTS, the original series: DOTSTOS?

It’s not a horrible Renault engine, it’s a horrible Volvo engine (b27)! The transaxle is all-Renault, though.

Hooray! Glad to see it still lives on. Every time I visit my future in laws place in OC, I’m tempted to get some DOTS shots because there are so many cool cars sitting on the street there. Now I know I have a place to post them.

What a relief. I haven’t slept since last weekend’s last installment of DOTSTOS.

This was the 2nd time that I’ve seen the DeLorean on this block. At first I thought the owner was a doctor at USC since it was parked in front of their downtown medical practice and there was paraphernalia all over the car, but now I think he lives in the area and just doesn’t park in a garage. I brought some of the guys from the office down to check it out, but once the meters turned on at 8AM, he vanished.
Such a shame to think this car sits out downtown overnights.
I do love the plates, though. I’ve only seen them one other time, and actually, that was a block away from here. Someone transferred them to a brand new RR Phantom. The plates read only “3”.
