The LeMons Supreme Court has been through many versions of the BRIBED stencil (applied to the cars of teams that grease the wheels of justice with a gift for the LCS) during the last five LeMons seasons. Lately, we’ve been trying to make each stencil more of a commemorative-edition souvenir for each event. Collect them all! Read more »

What with all my LeMons coverage for Car and Driver, plus my globe-trotting antics, I haven’t had much chance to keep up with the Home of the Murilee Martin Lifestyle Brand™ lately. So, today I went through and added a bunch of new links to MMLB™ writing. Read more »

Hyder Truck - Cannonball BanditsI’ve been writing about the 24 Hours of LeMons for more than four years now, for more publications than I can recall right now. The latest victim: Car and Driver, which is now inexplicably sponsoring the 24 Hours of LeMons. So, when you’re done reading my tirades on TTAC, Motor Authority, Autoweek and elsewhere, head over to C/D’s site and read my live race coverage, LeMons features, cheating tips, and all the rest!

It took me six weeks to get around to writing, but Part 20 of the Impala Hell Project saga is done. If you haven’t read Parts 1 through 19, go here.

I’ve been going through my novel to make a “de-pornified,” semi-safe-for-work version for use in the long-postponed Part 20 of the Impala Hell Project series (yes, there’s a connection between the Impala Hell Project and Torment, Incorporated), and I ran across this paragraph that sums up the way I feel about the American office-cubicle workplace. After doing so much work updating the homepage so that it includes links to my writing, there’s another bit of housekeeping that needs doing: it’s about time I explained how and why I use a pseudonym that sounds like a girl’s name. I’ve talked about it before, but never really told the whole story in one place. Fasten your seat belts, because this Leyland P76 will be heading into weird territory.

For a couple of years, the homepage of this site wasn’t very useful, with a few unlabeled icons leading who-knows-where. What the hell, I figured, the Murilee Martin blog gets regular updates. But wouldn’t it be nice for readers to be able to use this futuristic hyperlinking technology to find stuff I’d written? It would be like going from that 1994 website you view with Mosaic on your DOS-powered 386 to, I dunno, a 1997 website viewed with Netscape 1.5 on a Mac Quadra 800! Read more »

If you liked the Junkyard Finds desktop wallpaper collection, you’ll love the Rod-Throw-O-Rama Desktop Wallpaper collection, featuring images of nuked 24 Hours of LeMons engines in all the most common screen resolutions. Enjoy.

It was quite a race, and its photographic Über Gallery has more than 2000 photographs for your enjoyment. Read more »

Yesterday, the 850 Days In Hell Edition of Project Car Hell went up on Autoweek. The Volvo 850 T5R and the BMW 850i: both fine machines, both wrenching nightmares. You may have noticed that Autoweek doesn’t always provide handy links to previous posts, so here ya go: Read more »

I’m sure I’m not the first person to think of this one, but when you have both a big pumpkin harvest and a Wüsthof stiff boner, the Check Engine Light Pumpkin just seems necessary.

Years ago, before I became the Enver Hoxha of Image Consultants, I had the idea that I’d get together with my friend Walker Canada and do a car-advice column for cheapskate hooptie owners called “Sparky & Max.” It will still happen someday, but for now you can enjoy the animation Walker made as our logo.

We of LeMons HQ have started (or, rather, resumed the tradition of) issuing a region-specific trophy for each race, which means in practice that we bring a trophy with a blank nameplate and realize that we haven’t thought of what we’re going to call it until about 19 minutes before the checkered flag on Sunday. The idea is that we have a way to reward a team that achieves something special at a race, yet doesn’t fit into one of the normal trophy categories. At last weekend’s Skankaway Anti-Toe-Fungal 500 race, we felt compelled to split the trophy three ways, for reasons that will appear obvious once you click the “Read more” link.

With 171 entries, the weekend’s LeMons racing activities at Infineon Raceway were a lot of fun. It always takes me a couple of days to process my photos into an Über Gallery entry, but that task is now done. 1,912 photographs of the action!

You’ve seen the Showroom-Schlock Shootout Über Gallery and the official results, but those things don’t always tell the entire story. As Official Historian of the 24 Hours of LeMons, I’m here to fill on the blanks on what happened at the Autobahn Country Club Joliet last weekend.
