Every year, I do 52 Junkyard Finds for The Truth About Cars, 52 Junkyard Treasures for Autoweek, and 104 Junkyard Gems for Autoblog, and you’ll find links to all 1,800+ of those posts at the Junkyard Home of the Murilee Martin Lifestyle Brandâ„¢. Out of those 208 junkyard vehicles that I documented last year, I […]

I’m reluctant to post these photos, because I know that this post is going to trigger three years of emails that read “saw ur mazd for sale howmuch pay to by it?” Ahhh, what the hell.

Yes, everyone who lives in snowy parts of the country has seen at least one 4WD Justy, but I never saw a single one during all my years in California.

How Could This Happen?

November 1st, 2010

Since I’m in the early stages of a Hell Project involving a forward-control mid-60s Detroit van, my jaw dropped when I saw that someone had allowed Little Joe to go to The Crusher. How? Why?

I should let the owner of this Volvo 142 know that there’s a complete, super-straight 144 in a nearby junkyard, because it would be a shame for all those nice parts to get gobbled up by The Crusher.

The junkyard near my house has quite a few machines that we’d all prefer to see surviving on the street. For example, this 46-year-old IHC flatbed.

One of the nice things about my house in California was its proximity to the Oakland Pick-N-Pull. If I needed an ’85 Civic starter at 4:50 PM, I knew I could be at the yard before its 5:00 closing time. Now I’ve just discovered a well-stocked self-service yard within a few miles of my new […]

The Denver self-service yard that gave us the Benz Ponton, MGB-GT, and ’80 Colt also boasts this super-rare Pre-Cupholder Era Datsun wagon.

Not far from the ’72 MGB-GT sits this well-picked-over (yet still stately) Mercedes-Benz W120. I can’t figure out the model year, but let’s say mid-1950s.

Back when I had a chrome-bumper MGB-GT as a daily driver, I’d have killed to find this nearly-intact car at a cheap self-service yard!

As you saw yesterday, I’m finally getting into the junkyard groove in my new hometown. This Denver self-service yard has some great vintage import iron, and today we’re going to check out this early front-wheel-drive Mitsu-Dodge as it awaits its date with The Crusher.

Just in case a shopper forgets to stuff his pockets with fuses, this junkyard provides a convenient shopping solution!
