Michigan is very proud of its famous killin’-n-grillin’ son, and rightfully so! Someday, Ted Nugent will be President of the United States, and LeMons HQ wants to be able to tell The Nuge that we were behind him all the way!

Civicmaro!

You can get a Miata into the good graces of the 24 Hours of LeMons Supreme Court by welding a Volvo 245 body onto it and creating a Molvo. No problem! But let’s say you’ve got a 2006 Honda Civic— the newest entry in LeMons history— and you want to get through the BS inspection […]

I’ve been attaching various CHDK-hacked Canon cameras to 24 Hours of LeMons race cars for dozens of races, and they’ve come through the experience scratched and oil-splattered but more or less intact. I figured putting a timelapse camera on a stake at a particularly action-packed corner would work just as well; sure, an errant race […]

Next Stop: Detroit!

I’m working LeMons races on three consecutive weekends. Here comes #2: The Campaign To Prevent Gingervitis, at Gingerman Raceway in Michigan.

We’ve seen the 2010 Legends of LeMons medal winners, but so many 24 Hours of LeMons teams stepped it up in the team-costume department last season that I feel compelled to share some of the better ones.

It took me for-freakin’-ever to choose the winners and do the Unununium Medal Winners post, so head on over to TTAC and check it out.

LeMons Chief Perp Jay Lamm has signed a pledge never to write about cars again; he’s got it framed and hanging up in his office. He also tends to be extremely harsh on LeMons drivers who happen to be his friends. That means that he’s extra cruel to former auto-journo colleagues Csaba Csere, Tony Swan, […]

Yesterday, we honored Team Police Brutality for their repeated last-minute, knuckle-shredding thrashes on cars that warm the ice-cold hearts of the LeMons HQ staff. Today we honor Morrow’s Auto, the only team that rivals Police Brutality for sheer never-say-die futility heroism!

These guys have done pretty well in LeMons racing, not to mention that deal in France, but their gambit to distract us from their quasi-cheaty Supra with their outrageously cheaty Camaro has resulted in the second-ever exercising of the 24 Hours of LeMons claimer rule.

Here’s our very first second three-time People’s Choice winner!

And the Real Winner Is…

Yeah, yeah, so an Alfa took the win on laps this afternoon. That’s nice, but what true LeMons aficionados really care about is the Index of Effluency… which also went to an Alfa!

And the Winner Is…

After a long, exhausting drive, we’re lounging in a hot-sheet flophouse near Midway Airport. The internet connection here appears to be a cocktail-straw-diameter 300-baud pipeline, so I’ll keep this brief: the Corsa Nostra GTV6 has taken the win on laps at the Bull Oil Grand Prix 24 Hours of LeMons.

How is this possible? The Corsa Nostra Alfa GTV6, veteran of massive and repeated mechanical and driving failures at several previous LeMons events, ended the day sitting in first place!

Since I’m too busy to shoot sufficient photos to really capture a typical LeMons BS Inspection, I rely on the PillarCam timelapse camera to do the job for me.

For the first time since the Sears Point race in March, we had beautiful weather for a LeMons race. To go with the sunny skies and low-70s temperatures, we had some excellently LeMonic entries (including this completely de-bodied Crown Vic)… and some total cheaters.
